Don't get me wrong, my G27 has served flawlessly and faithfully for over 5 years now but moving to the T300 is like going from a Chevy Cavalier to a Cadillac. Ok, with the explanation and disclaimers aside, I can tell you that the force feedback and overall feel of the wheel base is leagues beyond the G27 in comfort, smoothness and ability to recover from a slide due to reverse force (it feels like it's trying to help you counter-steer out of a spin).
So, I took apart the stock rim and fit my larger rim on it even though I couldn't really reach the buttons anymore and probably not the paddle shifters but since I run primarily oval and I kept my G27 shifter I can always switch back to the smaller leather wheel when needed for road courses. Also, I ordered the leather add-on wheel so had no intention of using the stock wheel but when I ran the leather one for a few minutes I really missed the large 320mm custom rim from my modified G27. Truly a shame Thrustmaster does not stand behind its products.Pros: I'm not sure that I can give this a fair review since I really only wanted the base and have no intention of using the pedals. Only reason this gets 2 eggs rather than 1 is because it's still better than the G29 wheel. I'll never buy another Thrustmaster product again. I've requested a replacement wheel from Thrustmaster customer support since I've been having ongoing issues with fans prior to the 1 year warranty, they refused to replace the wheel. I have replaced the fans in this wheel 2x now, and now nothing I do including putting an industrial fan right by my window AC and blowing it directly on my wheel, can stop it from overheating and losing all force feedback.
Overall Review: My wheel no longer has force feedback after about 5 minutes of play. Pros: Wheel was easy to set up and use, had okay force feedback, rather smooth wheel for the priceįan died 10 months after purchase took a month to get my wheel back and working againįan died again 2 months after the new fan was put in, took another month to get my wheel back up and running Overall I would reccommend this wheel to anybody looking for a racing wheel in the $300-$400 price range. My only hiccup so far is that this wheel is so different from the one I have been using (for 15 years.) that I feel like I am learning to drive all over again. Installation and setup was a breeze with no problems during the process. Overall Review: I really like this wheel, it is a huge improvement from the 15 year old Logitech MOMO wheel I upgraded from. However this is a mild annoyance at best, and will not keep me from praising this wheel to anybody who asks my opinion :)
Option of upgrading to different wheel is a nice addition.Ĭons: Clamp is a little fiddly to deal with (in short, it flops around until tight and can be a little annoying to get aligned), causing occasional mild frustration if you are limited on space and have to remove the wheel from your desk in order to use PC for non-driving tasks.
Pedal feel and action very nice, especially the brake pedal cone-pad option.
I only race using iRacing so I can't speak to the effectiveness of the wheel with any other games/sims, but with iRacing it feels fantastic! Overall Review: Overall, I would recommend this to others (and have), especially due to the sale at the time of purchase ($100 off) No large wheel offerings from TM unless you buy the entire Ferarri Alcantara kit (unless you need the pedals it seemed wasteful) Pros: I'm not sure that I can give this a fair review since I really only wanted the base and have no intention of using the pedals.
